A Cemetery Tour with Goth Royalty; An Interview with Patricia Morrison and David Vanian

I’ve chatted with the lovely and haunting Patricia Morrison via the interweb for a few years now for interviews and such. When my family planned a spring trip to London I thought, this could finally be the time I get to meet her in person! Patricia, being the gracious person she is, offered to set us up with a tour of Highgate Cemetery so I could see more of London while there. That’s truly just how cool she is.  I had been out in the Cotswolds with my family and friends for the weekend and was taking the train back to London when I got a message from Patricia telling…

    In the Know- May 2017

May’s In the Know is a question for the greatest multitaskers, moms who are musicians! Happy Mother’s Day! The question is: How has being a musician enhanced your ability to be a parent? Patricia Morrison (The Bags, The Gun Club, Sisters of Mercy, The Damned, Legal Weapon)- I understand toddler behaviour after being in bands. A Q&A with Kid Congo Powers

Kid Congo Powers, the ultimate legend agreed to be an honorary woman and do an interview before his show in Cincinnati at MOTR May 16, 2016. Izzi Krombholz: How did you get your start playing music? Was it truly with the Gun Club or had you dabbled before that? Kid Congo Powers: Not at all. I was a teenage rock n’ roll fan. I would hoodwink my sister into to taking me to shows. I always knew I wanted to be around music but I didn’t think it was a possible thing. I grew up in the 70s when rockstars were really rockstars. I didn’t think it was possible till…

Cover Girl 001: An Interview with Alice Bag

It is beyond an honor to have Alice Bag as our cover woman for issue #001 of Women in Rock. She is a lifelong feminist who perfectly represents the strongest Women in Rock.   Growing up in a home with an abusive father drove Alice towards feminism. “I smiled whenever someone challenged him,” Alice says. However, she didn’t truly become aware of feminism until the famous battle-of-the-sexes tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. As a teen, Alice was a huge fan of glam rock, although her influences started with ranchera and soul music. Later in high school, she started forming her first band with Patricia Morrison…
