Well it is a sad day indeed. The Southgate House has announced that their last show will be held on December 31, 2011. While they haven’t stated the reason for their closure they did post to Facebook, “We look forward to opening our business in a new location soon.” There have been so many amazing shows there over the years and many memories I wouldn’t trade for anything. Some favorite shows I’ve seen there include: St. Vincent, The Raveonettes, The Customs reunion show, and The Black Angels. Comment below with favorite shows you’ve seen or memories you’ve had there. The Tri-State area is in for a great loss.

Well, I have to say the Custom’s reunion show was a high point of my recent years. To many great shows to count on my limited fingers. Can’t wait to see what is in store for the future of rock in Cincinnati (or I guess Northern Kentucky)!!!!

Yes a sad day in Cincinnati/Newport/Covington musical history. This place was like no other and will live on in the memories of bands, workers, and patrons. One of my favorite shows happened in October of this year seeing Man Man. I wish I was around to see Townes Van Zandt play there. Hell even Abe Lincoln himself stayed in the building. I don’t know how much I can take in such a small space of time with the Mad Hatter and now the Southgate, lets hope the Anchor Grill doesn’t close too. LONG LIVE THE SOUTHGATE HOUSE
